French Bûche De Nöel or Yule Log. 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Plainfield Public Library, 15025 S. Illinois St., Plainfield. You don’t have to travel to France to enjoy a traditional French holiday delicacy. Chef Maddox discusses the history and creates the dessert. Guests will learn how to make jellyroll, coffee buttercream, bittersweet chocolate ganache and Swiss meringue. Recipe and samples included. Senior Citizen Holiday Lunch. 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Plainfield Fire Department Training Center, 23748 W. 135th St. Plainfield Park District and Plainfield Township will co-host their annual holiday event for park district and township senior citizens. Lunch will be served at noon, with entertainment and door prizes following. Everyone must fill out a registration form and include payment at the time of registration. The deadline to sign up for the luncheon is Nov. 25. Ages 50 and up, R $5/NR $8.

Gift Sensations. 4:30 – 5:10 p.m. at the Heritage Professional Center, 24023 W. Lockport St. Get ready for the holidays! This event is geared for children age 5-11. Create a gift for someone else or make that special something for yourself. Students will make different projects each week to take home to prepare for the holidays! Marshall Field’s Christmas. 11 a.m. to noon at Plainfield Public Library, 15025 S. Illinois St., Plainfield. Years ago, no Christmas season was complete without a visit to Marshall Field’s department store. Let’s take a look back at beloved holiday traditions including the Walnut Room Christmas tree, holiday window displays, visits with Santa and more. Santa’s Workshop. 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Plainfield Township Community Center, 15014 S. Des Plaines St., Plainfield. Hosted by the Plainfield Park District. Bring along your wish list to share with Santa, then enjoy the rest of your evening with crafts, snacks and games, it will be an evening full of fun and excitement for everyone! Pictures will be taken from 6:30-7:15 p.m. (each child will receive one photo with Santa) Parents may bring their cameras for additional pictures. We will end our evening with a story read by Santa. Ages 1-6 with parent. $12 for residents, $18 for non-residents.

Native American Games Workshop. 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Forest Preserve District of Will County’s Isle a la Cache Museum, 501 E. Romeo Road, Romeoville. Learn the history of several Native American games and toys and how to make them. Participants may choose to make one or more crafts, including a toy buzzer, a corn husk doll, a ring-and-pin game and a dice game. The program is for ages 8 to 16. The cost is $10 per person. Living History Demonstration. Noon to 3 p.m. at the Forest Preserve District of Will County’s Isle a la Cache Museum, 501 E. Romeo Road, Romeoville. Watch Isle a la Cache Brigade volunteers re-enact an 18th century trading community as they portray musket shooters, cooks, seamstresses, voyageurs or craftsmen.
