Winter Wonderland & Tree Lighting Ceremony. 6 to 9 p.m. at Edward Hospital Athletic & Events Center, 55 Phelps Ave., Romeoville. Join for another year of celebrating the holidays as we wait for the Romeoville Fire Department and Romeoville Firefighters Local 4237 to bring Santa on decorated, flashy vehicles. Kicking off the festivities is the Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6 p.m. Romeoville Firefighters Local 4237 will provide and serve hot chocolate and cookies immediately following the parade. Admission is one non-perishable food item and activities include children’s entertainment, inflatables, crafts, picture with santa for the first 300 children and more.

Star Wars Celebration. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fountaindale Public Library, 300 W. Briarcliff Road, Bolingbrook. Visit the library for a day of fun Star Wars activities just in time for the movie release of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
Matinee: The Muppet Christmas Carol. 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at White Oak Library Romeoville Branch, 201 Normantown Road. Take a break from the holiday chaos to watch a movie that will make you smile. Charles Dickens’s “A Christmas Carol” is retold in classic Muppet tradition, featuring singing and absurdity. Actor Michael Caine plays it straight as miserly Ebenezer Scrooge while Kermit the Frog takes on the role of faithful employee Bob Cratchit. And, of course, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo and the rest of the Muppets are there to add to the fun. Plus, special treats for everyone on the “nice” list!
Fire & Ice Show. 6 to 9 p.m. at The Promenade of Bolingbrook, 631 E. Boughton Road, Bolingbrook. Ice sculptures throughout the grounds, and an ice sculpting presentation. 4 ambient “Fire” stations performing around the grounds, ending with a large 15 minute staged performance on “The Row.”

DIY: Pin Up Card Display Wreath. 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Fountaindale Public Library District, 300 W. Briarcliff Road, Bolingbrook. Join Cathryn Stanek-Whisler of Plentiful Programs. Participants create a unique way to display holiday cards using clothes pins. Suspend from a ribbon, and clip cards in place as cards are received. Holiday Open House. 2 to 6 p.m. at the White Oak Library Romeoville Branch, 201 W. Normantown Road. Stop in for holiday cheer with cookies and crafts for all ages, a musical performance by our favorite Mariachi Matters group and all manner of library fun.
Teen DIY: LED Snowflakes. 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the Fountaindale Public Library District, 300 W. Briarcliff Road, Bolingbrook. Winter is coming. Come make a light-up decoration to hang in your locker, on a tree or anywhere you like. For more information and to register, visit www.fountaindale.org.

Tibbott Barnes & Noble Holiday Book Fair. 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Barnes & Noble, 631 E. Boughton Road Suite 100, Bolingbrook. A holiday sing-along, cupcake decorating and holiday stories by Erin the Elf will highlight the Tibbott Elementary School’s Holiday Book Fair fundraiser at Barnes & Noble in the Bolingbrook Promenade. The event will also include a free bookmark crafting station, raffles and gift wrapping by the Tibbott staff. A portion of every purchase will be donated to Tibbott’s Library Media Center.

Matinee: The Santa Clause. 1 to 3 p.m. at White Oak Library Romeoville Branch, 201 Normantown Road. Divorced dad Scott (Tim Allen) and his son (Eric Lloyd) are magically transported to the North Pole, where an elf explains that Scott must take Santa’s place before the next Christmas.
Native American Games Workshop. 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Forest Preserve District of Will County’s Isle a la Cache Museum, 501 E. Romeo Road, Romeoville. Learn the history of several Native American games and toys and how to make them. Participants may choose to make one or more crafts, including a toy buzzer, a corn husk doll, a ring-and-pin game and a dice game. The program is for ages 8 to 16. The cost is $10 per person. Toys For Tots. 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Toys for Tots collection will be hosted inside Bass Pro Shops! Donate a new, unwrapped toy for the less fortunate this holiday season.
Food 4 Gifts. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Promenade of Bolingbrook, 631 E. Boughton Road, Bolingbrook. A food drive with a gift card incentive. Donate $5 or more worth of food items and your name will be entered into a drawing to win a $25 gift card! 10 lucky winners will be randomly chosen during this event. Sports Cards & Collectibles Show. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Recreation Center, 900 W. Romeo Road, Romeoville. Collecting sports cards is a fun hobby. Come stop by the Romeoville Recreation Department to check out the sports card show. Admission and parking are free.

Living History Demonstration. Noon to 3 p.m. at the Forest Preserve District of Will County’s Isle a la Cache Museum, 501 E. Romeo Road, Romeoville. Watch Isle a la Cache Brigade volunteers re-enact an 18th century trading community as they portray musket shooters, cooks, seamstresses, voyageurs or craftsmen. Registration is not required for the free, all-ages program.
