Members of the village board signed off last month on some housekeeping efforts to update and modernize technology systems.
On July 17, members of the board approved the purchase of Microsoft Windows and SQL server licenses.
The move will allow the village to update systems in their virtual environment, primarily those that support the New World ERP platform.
The village’s server infrastructure is currently running on Microsoft Windows 2008, and are nearing the end of life for software support.
The new system will include Microsoft Windows 2016 standard server license.
The new system is necessary for the village to be prepared for future application software updates.
The new licenses will cost $12,198.
In a second approval, the board members approved the annual cost of keeping the public informed of what’s happening at the Village Hall and around town.
Village trustees also approved the renewal of the annual maintenance contact from TKB Associates for the village’s Laserfiche document management system.
The system is used by village staff to organize electronic documents, including plans, ordinances, accounts payable invoices, and other official documents.
The system is also used to publish documents to the village website for public access.
The contract includes telephone support and 24-hour response time for problems with the system, remote desktop support, new software releases and support, credit toward upgrades, and reduced consulting and professional fees for the village.
The annual renewal was approved in the amount of $13,946.
