JUNE 17

Senior Citizen Health Fair. 9 a.m. to noon at St. Mary Immaculate Parish, 15629 Route 59. State Rep. Mark Batinick will host his annual free senior citizen health fair. The fair will feature free refreshments, health screenings and door prizes.  No registration is necessary.

 

JUNE 18

Donuts with Dad. 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Plainfield Township Community Center, 15014 S. Des Plaines St., Plainfield. Celebrate Father’s Day with the best guy around, your dad. Have fun playing games, having a donut eating contest, crafts and more.

 

Social Media Safety for Teens and Parents. 11 a.m. to noon at Plainfield Township Community Center, 15014 S. Des Plaines St. This event is free for all looking to know the latest in social media safety and the latest programs kids are using to interact online. You must preregister for this event using program number #27400, register online at www.plfdparks.org.

 

Nifty “50” Nostalgic Baseball. 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Village Green Park, 24121 W. Chicago St., Plainfield. During the early years of the Plainfield Park District, a baseball field was located in the Village Green. Let’s go back in time and enjoy a ballpark lunch of a hot dog, popcorn and soft drink, courtesy of the Park District, while supplies last. All ages welcome to celebrate. JUNE 21

Birdhouse Building. 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Mather Woods, 25032 W. Renwick Road. Building and decorating a birdhouse can be so much fun. The park district will supply the kit, along with the paint and decorations to build the best birdhouse ever. When your house is complete, we will then take a walk through the woods to enjoy the beauty of nature.

JUNE 22

Senior Citizen Summer Picnic. 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Plainfield Township Community Center, 15014 S. Des Plaines St., Plainfield. The Plainfield Park District and Plainfield Township will co-host their annual Senior Citizen Summer Picnic for Park District and Township Senior Citizens. The cost for the picnic is $5 per resident and $8 for nonresidents; reservations must be made in advance by filling out a reservation form by June 8. JUNE 23

JJC Summer Farmers Market. 2-6 p.m. at the Joliet Junior College Greenhouse Facility, 1215 Houbolt Road, Joliet. Farmers Market season is here, and Joliet Junior College is pleased to bring its annual farmers market for a fourth year.

 

JUNE 24

Movies in the Park. 8:30 p.m. at Settlers Park, 15251 S. Van Dyke Road. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, snacks, don’t forget the bug spray, and join for some great movies under the stars. If inclement weather is forecast, the movie will be cancelled.
