Migratory Bird Hike. 8 to 10 a.m. at the Forest Preserve District of Will County’s Lake Renwick Heron Rookery Nature Preserve, located on Renwick Road, 0.5 mile east of Route 30. View the many waterfowl, eagles, songbirds and more that use Lake Renwick to rest and refuel during their migration. Bring binoculars (a limited supply will be available for loan) and dress for the weather. Participants will hike up to 1.5 miles on natural surfaces across uneven terrain. The free program is for ages 7 and older. Registration is required two days prior to each program date; call 815-886-1467.
Joliet American Legion Band Spring Benefit Concert. 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park, 201 W. Jefferson St., Joliet. The concert will serve as a fund-raiser as the Band pursues its quest to compete in the Senior Band competition at the National American Legion Convention in Cincinnati. Tickets for this concert will be available in advance through the Band members and at the Park. Seating for this concert is limited to 350 patrons. Refreshments will be served. Three Rivers Gardening Angels. 6:45 p.m. at Channahon United Methodist Church, 24751 W. Eames St., Channahon. The monthly meeting of the Three Rivers Gardening Angels will be held; the club’s Annual Plant Exchange will be held for anyone wishing to participate. Lake Renwick Bird Viewing. 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Forest Preserve District of Will County’s Lake Renwick Heron Rookery Nature Preserve, located on Renwick Road, 0.5 mile east of Route 30. These special viewing times allow the public to see the dazzling herons, egrets and cormorants while the preserve has restricted access to protect the nesting birds. Spotting scopes and binoculars are available for use. Participants will hike up to 1.5 miles on a natural surface trail. Registration is not required for the free, all-ages program.

Cinco de Mayo Party. 5 to 6 p.m. at Boy Scout Park 23729 W. Ottawa St., Plainfield. Help celebrate this historical day with a big family fiesta! Make your own maracas, enjoy a delicious snack, play some fun games and take a swing at the pinata.
Ladies Night Out. 6 to 8 p.m. at Plainfield Township Community Center, 15014 S. Des Plaines St. Enjoy an evening out planned for fun and relaxation! Massage, paraffin hand spa, make-up, nails, reflexology, appetizers and drink can be all part of the evening fun! At the time of check in you can choose between a massage, manicure or hand spa. The evening will include designing, creating and painting your own wine glass, dash out at the door look by Mary Kay, enjoy a gentle yoga and relaxation session, reflexology massage and more fun surprises.
Annual spring concert. 7 p.m. at Plainfield High School-Central Campus, 24120 W. Fort Beggs Drive. The program will feature performances by the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band, under the direction of Band Director Dan Valkema and Assistant Band Director Pat Hoadley. There is no admission. The concert will include movie music, light classical, Latin and big band jazz selections. Senior band members of the Class of 2016 will be honored.

Mother’s Day Tea Party. 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. at Streams Rec Center, 24319 Cedar Creek Lane, Plainfield. Put on your favorite dress and join the Mother’s Day Tea Party. The park district will be creating some fancy, fun crafts, sipping tea and enjoying time together. Event is $12 for residents and $15 dollars for nonresidents. Event is geared for ages 2-8 with parent. Green Village Program. 7 p.m. at Plainfield Public Library, 15025 S. Illinois St., Plainfield. Whether your visual passion is for native plants, flowers, or ponds, bring your questions and get ideas on how to create a pleasing outdoor space. The Green Village Series is a partnership between the Plainfield Public Library District and the Village to provide the community with environmental programs.
