APRIL 9

About Boating Safely. 9 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. at the Bass Pro Shop, 709 S. Janes, Bolingbrook.  Cost is $30, does include lunch. For information and registration contact: Darryl Haefner at 815-293-1262 or jlyrrad@comcast.net.

 

Will/Grundy Genealogical Society meeting. 10 a.m. at Coal City Public Library, 85 N. Garfield St., Coal City. This month’s program will feature a video workshop on taking control of your genealogical clutter, entitled “Taming Your Inner Packrat” For those who are drowning in a sea of paper, documents, photos and charts, this session will address how to organize, store and share your research materials. The program is presented by Lisa A. Alzo, MFA, a noted writer, lecturer, and genealogist. Traditional methods as well as computer technology will be addressed and handouts will be provided. The public is welcome to attend, and refreshments will be served.

 

APRIL 10

Living History Demonstrations. 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Forest Preserve District of Will County’s Isle a la Cache Museum, 501 E. Romeo Road. Interact with Isle a la Cache Brigade members as they portray fur trading community members from the 1700s. Registration is not required for the free, all-ages program.

 

APRIL 12

100+ Women Who Care of Will County Meeting. 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Mullets, 14903 S. Bell Road, Homer Glen. 100+ Women, 1 Hour, equals $10,000 to a local charity. Come learn more about the impact that can be made together.

 

Make Your Own Nosegay. 6:30 p.m. at White Oak Library Romeoville Branch, 201 W. Normantown Road. Learn how to create a beautiful bouquet using fresh flowers.  For ages 14 and up.  Each registered participant may bring 1 guest.  Registration is required. Call 815-552-4230 to register. APRIL 16

Busy Beavers Craft Club. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Forest Preserve District of Will County’s Isle a la Cache Museum, 501 E. Romeo Road. Learn to make a craft you can take home. Each month will feature a different craft activity. The free program is for ages 15 and under. Registration is not required.

 

Super Seeds. 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Forest Preserve District of Will County’s Isle a la Cache Museum, 501 E. Romeo Road. Learn how seeds move and where they come from. Participants will plant seeds to make a mini “three sisters’ garden” – similar to those planted by Native Americans – to take home. The free program is for ages 5-15. Registration is required by April 9; call 815-886-1467.
