2016 Friday Fish Fry. 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Parish School, 15629 S. Route 59, Plainfield. The Knights of Columbus Good Shepherd Council #5573 and Ladies Auxiliary will hold its 36th Annual Lenten Friday Fish Fry. Phone orders for take-out accepted from 4 to 7 p.m. at 815-436-2651, ext. 841. Please pick up by 7:30 p.m. Each week during the fish fry, a 50/50 raffle will be conducted with the cash prize awarded near the conclusion of the evening. The Ladies Auxiliary will be selling gift basket raffle tickets as well. The Knights request that all who attend please bring a non-perishable food item for donation to the Plainfield Food Pantry.

Plainfield Area Chamber of Commerce Business Expo 2016. 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Plainfield High School – Central Campus Field House, 24120 W. Fort Beggs Drive. Come and meet over 100 businesses! There will be entertainment, giveaways and more! Open to the public.
The Tea. 9 to 11 a.m. at Plainfield East High School, 12001 S. Naperville Road. Plainfield – Fans of the Disney classic “The Little Mermaid” can enjoy tea with their favorite characters from the show. The Tea is presented as part of the PEHS production of “The Little Mermaid” at 7 p.m. on March 17, 18 and 19, and 2 p.m. on March 20. Tickets for this special event are $5 and will only be sold in advance. Children’s Easter Egg-stravaganza. 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 805 Western Ave., Joliet. For children age 3 through fifth grade. Highlights include breakfast, the telling of the Easter story, arts and crafts, pictures with the Easter bunny and a fun Easter Egg Hunt by age groups. Magic: The Gathering Free Play. 2 to 4 p.m. at Plainfield Public Library, 15025 S. Illinois St. A casual event for Magic: the Gathering players of all skill levels. Please bring your own deck (the library will not provide cards). Make sure your cards are protected and sleeve your deck before you attend. The library will provide dice, paper and pens. Bring your own playmats and accessories if needed.
Meat Madness Fundraiser. 1 p.m. at Gruben’s Uptown Tap, 512 W. Lockport Road, Plainfield. Come see the “Wheel of Meat” and take a chance at winning some of the area’s best steaks and hams! Mobile Driver Services Unit. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Troy Township Community Center, 25448 Seil Road, Shorewood. Illinois residents will be able to renew their drivers’ licenses, obtain duplicate or corrected licenses and obtain Illinois identification cards. Illinois St. At this interactive program, enjoy a hot beverage and treats while you spend a few minutes with recommended book selections curated by the experts. At the end of the night, take home the books you are most compatible with. Who knows, if the date goes well you mind even end up a goodnight KISS (Hershey’s, that is).
FAFSA Workshop. 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Joliet Junior College, 1215 Houbolt Road. Parents and students who need help completing the FAFSA can attend one of Joliet Junior College’s FAFSA and scholarship workshops. All local parents and students can attend for free, regardless of what school they plan to attend in the fall.

Flashlight Egg Hunt. 6 to 7 p.m. at Van Horn Woods West, 17201 S. Lily Cache Road. Want to hunts for eggs in the dark? Then grab your flashlight and come to Van Horn Woods for our seventh Annual Flashlight Egg Hunt! Note that some eggs may contain a special ticket to win a prize. Make sure you check your eggs before you leave. MUST pre-register to participate. No on-site registration will be allowed. Register by noon on March 23.

Spring Pony Rides. 2:30 to 4 p.m. at Normantown Equestrian Center, 12151 S. Normantown Road, Plainfield. Celebrate the start of spring with four legged friends! An egg hunt will be held for those waiting their turn to participate. Each child will be allowed to hunt for 5 eggs so that everyone can have fun. Registration and payment are needed prior to the event.
Egg-citing Activities. 11 a.m. at Clow Stephens Park, 16650 S. Lily Cache Road, Plainfield. See the Easter Bunny and hunt for colorful eggs that the bunny has hidden. In addition to the egg hunt, you will receive a craft and snack that you can do at the park or take home. You must pre-register to participate by March 24. No on-site registration will be allowed. Special Needs Easter Mass. 11 a.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Parish, 15629 S. Route 59, Plainfield. Families who have children or adult family members with special needs are invited to our next Special Needs Mass. If you know a family in our parish or within the Plainfield community who has a child or adult family member with special needs, invite them to the Mass. Families needing ease of access to the Parish Center where Cana Hall is located may use the drop off drive at door #15 behind the Church on Frederick St., then park around front in the lot.
