PrairieWalk Pond is a 4.5 acre award-winning recreational area in downtown Lisle just north of the intersection of Route 53 and Burlington Avenue. Amenities include lighted walking trails encircling a 2-acre pond, gazebo, preserved wetland, scenic overlooks, more than 100 varieties of colorful native plants, educational signage and a creative children’s play area/splash pad called Dragonfly Landing.
Dragonfly Landing contains three “zones:”
- Nature-Themed Play Area (tree house, cattail swingers, frog, leaping lily pads)
- Gathering Zone – Shelter with a live roof and seating area
- Splash Pad – Giant flower misters, jet streams, water tunnel, water jellies
PrairieWalk Pond is free and open to the public daily.
The Splash Pad is open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Water at splash pad is on from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. To activate splash pad features, step on sidewalk button in the middle of Dragonfly Landing. This activates multiple splash pad features at once, that turn on/off in timed 4-minute intervals. Step on the button again to reactivate.
Free parking is available in the Garfield Parking Lot (observe signs). No parking on Garfield Avenue.
Each lap around the pond is 1600 feet, so 3 1/3 times around the pond equals one mile. Please respect the wildlife visiting the pond. There are no changing stations or lockers, so visitors must bring own towels, etc. No fishing, swimming, boating or other water activities allowed. PrairieWalk Pond and Dragonfly Landing may not be reserved for private parties such as weddings, birthdays, reunions, etc.
