Lake Renwick Bird Viewing. 8 a.m. to noon at Lake Renwick Heron Rookery Nature Preserve, located on Renwick Road, east of Route 30. Special viewings allow the public to see herons, egrets and cormorants, while access to the preserve is restricted during the nesting season. Will County Audubon members staff will help the public learn more about the rookery and its birds. Registration is not required for the free, all-ages program.

Illinois St. Finding out that your child is gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or questioning can foster new emotions, experiences and challenges. Back to School Fair. 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at St. Clare Campus, 1550 W. Plainfield Road, Joliet. A one stop event of health and human services for low-income families with children ages newborn to 18 years, living in Will County. Coordinated by Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet.

Fishing Fun. 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Van Horn Woods East, 17200 S. Frontage Road. Join to learn how to set up your fishing pole, how to cast and how to handle your fish once it is caught. About 30-45 minutes will be spent on instruction, and the remainder of the class will be fishing. Some optional items to bring along: sunscreen, a lawn chair, bug spray and clothes appropriate for the weather.
