National Readathon Day. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Morton Grove Public Library, 6140 Lincoln Ave. Come to the library to participate in a variety of bookish activities: listen to a story, get cool book suggestions, take a silly picture with your favorite book, win bookish prizes and read, read, read. Free Paper Shredding Event. Noon to 2 p.m. at the township’s parking lot, 5255 Main St., Skokie. Niles Township is sponsoring its semi-annual free paper-shredding event. This is a “drop and go” event, cars and pedestrians can enter through the Lockwood Avenue side. Residents are asked to bring no more than two shopping bags or small “banker boxes” of paper. Township staff will be on hand to supervise the shredding process.
