Romeoville Winter Wonderland warms hearts

More than 1,500 residents from Romeoville donated canned goods Dec. 4 to Hope for the Holidays as admission to join in Winter Wonderland fun.

The village of Romeoville Parks and Recreation hosted the Winter Wonderland and Hope for the Holidays event at its new location, the Edward Hospital Athletic and Event Center. The event kicked off with the Romeoville Fire Department’s Parade of Lights delivering Santa to light the 25-foot-tree with Mayor John Noak.  The Romeoville Fire Department, Fat Ricky’s and Costco sponsored the event.

Activities included photos with Santa, an interactive DJ, various crafts and holiday games, iceless ice skating rink, 11 inflatables, a photo booth and a pasta dinner sponsored by Fat Ricky’s.

The Winter Wonderland and Hope for the Holidays event featured a photo booth where residents could share in the holiday fun wearing props and smiles. Memories were made with free photos with Santa for the first 300 children. Children enjoyed dancing and interacting with the DJ in between games and playing on inflatable moon jumps inside the spacious Edward Hospital Athletic and Event Center Mayor John Noak lit the 25-foot tree outside of the Edward Hospital Athletic and Event Center.
