At its April 27 meeting, the Shorewood Village Board approved a bid from PT Ferro Construction for 2016 motor fuel tax street program.

PT Ferro was the lowest bidder, and the village will pay $999,218.06.

According to board documents, the village has worked with PT Ferro over the past five years, and staff believes they will successfully complete the MFT Street program.

Work to be done includes tree root pruning, sidewalk work and valve adjustments.

The board also approved the purchase of two public works vehicles.

The first is a new $186,082.55 plow truck, which will replace a 2005 plow truck.

Public Works Director Chris Drey said the plow fleet has 10 vehicles and one back-up.

The second vehicle is also a plow truck, but with hook lift and attachments. The truck will replace a 2005 plow truck, and will cost $220,092.55.

According to board documents, the vehicle has three demountable bodies, and so can be used by a variety of departments for tree limb removal, street sweeper dumping and water main breaks.
