For the fourth consecutive year, Lockport Township High School District 205 Board of Education President John Lukasik was named a recipient of the Presidential Volunteer Service Award.

Lukasik received the honor for his volunteerism in the community. The award is presented to individuals who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to volunteer service each year.

To earn the national honor, Lukasik volunteered more than 100 hours of community service during 2015.  “I believe volunteering is the right thing to do and I enjoy it very much,” Lukasik said. “I think there are great rewards for giving of your time to others and I am honored to take part in the many wonderful volunteering events in our community.”

The award was given by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation, which was established in 2003 to recognize the valuable contributions volunteers are making in our communities and encourage more people to serve. The council created the President’s Volunteer Service Award program as a way to thank and honor Americans who, by their demonstrated commitment and example, inspire others to engage in volunteer service.
