‘Men Who Cook’ Culinary Competition. 6 to 9 p.m. at Pipefitters Training Center, 10850 187th St., Mokena. The menu at the annual Eighth Annual “Men Who Cook” culinary competition has been planned by roughly 50 local guys who know how to make more than restaurant reservations for dinner. All proceeds will benefit the Will County Children’s Advocacy Center. The cost is $40 per person; $75 per couple. The price is $10 for children between 6 and 12; kids 5 and under can attend for free. An Evening with Audubon. 7 to 8:30 p.m. at he Forest Preserve District of Will County’s Isle a la Cache Museum, 501 E. Romeo Road. Learn all about John James Audubon, wildlife artist, nature writer and author of “Birds of America.” The program – the fourth and final offering in the District’s 2016 Nature Writers’ Series – begins with a short walk through the preserve followed by refreshing drinks and a discussion of three chapters from “Ornithological Biography, Volume 1.” The free program is for ages 16 and older. Outdoor Adventures in Illinois. 7 to 8 p.m. at White Oak Library Romeoville Branch, 201 W. Normantown Road, Romeoville. With warmer weather just around the corner, this program will give ideas on outdoor activities that you can do locally. A representative from the Heritage Corridor Convention and Visitors Bureau will entice you with places, events, and activities that will make your spring and summer full of fun. Will/Grundy Genealogical Society meeting. 10 a.m. at Coal City Public Library, 85 N. Garfield St., Coal City. This month’s program will feature a video workshop on taking control of your genealogical clutter, entitled “Taming Your Inner Packrat” For those who are drowning in a sea of paper, documents, photos and charts, this session will address how to organize, store and share your research materials. The program is presented by Lisa A. Alzo, MFA, a noted writer, lecturer, and genealogist. Traditional methods as well as computer technology will be addressed and handouts will be provided. The public is welcome to attend, and refreshments will be served.

Living History Demonstrations. 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Forest Preserve District of Will County’s Isle a la Cache Museum, 501 E. Romeo Road. Interact with Isle a la Cache Brigade members as they portray fur trading community members from the 1700s. Registration is not required for the free, all-ages program.
