After spending nearly 15 years in some of the America’s roughest prisons, D. Henderson emerged inspired to write The Career Criminal Series, a raw and uncut look at crime and the consequences that come with it. Will-Grundy Genealogical Society meeting. 10 a.m. at the Coal City Public Library, 85 N. Garfield St., Coal City. The program will be presented by the Midewin Thespians, a volunteer dramatic group, who will recreate scenes and stories of early life on the Midwestern prairie. The group of seven actors, in period dress, will portray what our ancestors experienced in their “Life on the Prairie Past.” The public is welcome to attend and refreshments will be served.

Bring the family out to the Pioneer Festival and Pancake Breakfast at Pilcher Park Nature Center. Enjoy pancakes, sausage and 100 percent pure maple syrup. After breakfast, come see the maple syrup making demonstrations and try your hand at pioneer chores while stepping back into time with our pioneer re-enactors.
