Kyle Cook, a science teacher at Lockport Township High School, has been named head varsity coach for the lacrosse club at LTHS.

Cook replaces Coach Andrew Kneeshaw, who passed away over the summer in a tragic drowning accident.

Cook has been coaching lacrosse at the junior varsity level for the past two years. Many of the lacrosse players on the team also play football, a sport that Cook has been coaching for the last three years here at Lockport, and one year at Minooka High School.

“There is actually a lot in common between the two sports and I plan to utilize all of my coaching experiences in order to be the coach that these players deserve for this coming season.  I have large shoes to fill, as Coach Kneeshaw had an impressive mind for the sport and was very passionate about this team.  However, having worked with him and having had the opportunity to learn from him, I believe I am prepared to step in and make a smooth transition,” Cook said. “I feel that I have developed a great relationship with all the players on the team and I am very excited about the opportunity.  Lacrosse is a quickly growing sport and I want to be part of that growth.”
