Plainfield native and Joliet Catholic Academy graduate Drake Fellows will be taking his shot at a NCAA Division-I baseball national championship.

Fellows is 12-1 in 17 starts this season for No. 2 ranked Vanderbilt University.
The junior right hander has a 4.15 earned run average to go with a 1.34 WHIP this season. He posted 120 strikeouts on the year against only 42 walks.
The Commodores (54-11) open play in the World Series in Omaha, Nebraska Sunday against No. 7 national seed Louisville (49-16) at 1 p.m. on ESPN.
Vanderbilt is the highest remaining team as No. 1 UCLA was eliminated by Michigan in tey Super-Regional.
Last week, Fellows was selected in the sixth round of the MLB amateur draft —the 173rd overall selection by the San Diego Padres.
