Freedom Elementary School Assistant Principal William Stockey will serve next year as the principal at Eagle Pointe Elementary School.

The District 202 Board of Education approved Stockey’s new assignment at its May 28, 2019 regular meeting. Stockey will replace Laura Weed, who was recently named District 202’s first Director of Digital Learning and Innovation.

“Mr. Stockey is a veteran assistant principal in our district and has a track record of excellent relationships with the parent community, students, and staff,” said Tony Manville, District 202 assistant superintendent for administration and personnel.

“It is always exciting to be able to promote from within our own district,” Manville said. “We think Mr. Stockey is a great fit for the Eagle Pointe community.”

Stockey started his education career in 2003 as a special education teacher at the Aurora Education Center in North Aurora. He came to District 202 in 2004, serving as a special education teacher at Heritage Grove Middle School.

He taught both social studies and science at Heritage Grove from 2007-2012 before being named assistant principal at Freedom in 2013.

“I look forward to joining a dedicated learning community and building strong relationships with students, staff and parents with the goal of maximizing every student’s potential,” Stockey said.
