Mayoral Candidate David S. Olsen announced today the endorsement of the Downers Grove Professional Fire Fighters Association (DGPFFA) in the April 2nd Consolidated Election.
“I couldn’t be more honored to receive the strong support of the firefighters who protect our village,” said Olsen. “Their dedication to the safety of our residents and businesses is unmatched, which makes Downers Grove one of the safest communities in Illinois.”
With public safety being one of his top priorities, Olsen has pledged to work with the village council, fire chief, and bargaining unit leaders to continue to supply needed training and equipment for firefighters. He will also work collaboratively to secure the necessary funding to protect all residents of Downers Grove.
“You [Olsen] have proven your dedication to understanding the dangers and importance of our job,” wrote DGPFFA Vice President Scott Cavenaile in the endorsement letter for Olsen. “The protection of this community is of utmost importance to us, and you have proven it is to you as well.”
The DGPFFA Local 3234 is a local chapter of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois (AFFI), and is associated with the AFL-CIO. It is comprised of 69 firefighters who staff the village’s four fire stations.
