The Troy Community School District 30-C Board of Education in May named Mark Peter as a new Troy Middle School Assistant Principal.
Peter will join Margaret Lopez as one of the two T.M.S. Assistant Principals serving under Principal Renee Marski.
Peter has been with the Troy district 11 years, teaching Cultural Literature, Synergistics and U.S. History. He has also served the district as Interim Assistant Principal and Interim Athletic Director. Peter also coaches softball and basketball and recently received Illinois Basketball District 9 Coaches Association Coach of the Year for his position as 7th grade girls basketball coach.
Before coming to Troy, Peter taught at Plainfield South High School and at East Aurora High School.
“Mark’s ability to build relationships with students, staff and parents will be a great asset to T.M.S.,” said Troy Superintendent Dr. Todd Koehl. “We look forward to his work in this new role.”
Peter replaces Tyler Haymond, who served Troy as Assistant Principal for five years and resigned to take the position of Principal at Plank Jr. High School in Oswego District 308.
The Troy school board in May also accepted the resignation of Troy Executive Director of Human Resources Dr. Paul Schrik, who will leave the district June 29 to become Superintendent of Rockdale School District 84. Schrik held the Troy position for four years.
Koehl said Haymond and Schrik will be missed.
“Tyler has served our community well in his role as AP at T.M.S.,” he said. “We will all miss him, and we are grateful for the time we have shared with him. He has been a great colleague, and he has contributed greatly to the success of students and staff at T.M.S. We are all excited for him as he makes the transition to his own building.
“And Paul has been a mainstay in the district office, providing excellent guidance in personnel and policy. Continually, Paul made time to build relationships with staff, parents and community members. His leadership and laughter will be missed in our district; however, we could not be more proud of him as he moves into superintendency.”
