JANUARY 23

Winter Fun: Sleigh Ride & Sledding. 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Ride in an old fashioned sleigh pulled by Belgian draft horses through the scenic countryside of Harvard. Bring your sled and enjoy the junior sledding hill (about 30′ high) with your family. Please bring a sled and money for lunch. Fee is per person; children must be accompanied by an adult. Departs from Maine Park Leisure Center.

 

JANUARY 25

Brush Up Your Shakespeare. 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Niles Public Library, 6960 Oakton. High school students are invited to receive professional coaching from actors with The Shakespeare Project of Chicago. Get guidance on selecting and presenting the Shakespeare monologue/sonnet that is right for you. Whether you are preparing for the National Shakespeare Competition or just want to get better acquainted with the Bard, this workshop will help you gain insight, confidence, and growth in your presentation skills..

Walt Disney World for Grown-Ups with Karen Luster. 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Niles Public Library, 6960 Oakton, Niles. Join Karen Luster, avid Disney World fan and staff writer for the Disney website Magical DIStractions, as she proves that Walt Disney World isn’t just for kids and families! Job Seekers: Power Employment Workshop. 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Niles Public Library, 6960 Oakton St. This nationally recognized program, presented by Business and Career Services Inc. and Illinois workNet, provides expert guidance on SMART goals, resume writing, effective job searching, and interview techniques. Synod of Bishops in Rome regarding Family Issues. 7 p.m. at St. John Brebeuf Church, 8307 N. Harlem Ave., Niles. This free event is part of the SJB 2015-16 Speaker Series, held in the Rev. Thomas P.
