After 24 years at 7300 Woodward Ave., in Woodridge, Sam’s Club, the membership-only bulk retailer is permanently closing June 30.
The approximately 140 employees were told of the closing June 21. According to published reports employees are being provided severance pay and relocation to other stores.
Sam’s Club, founded in 1983, is owned and operated by Walmart. The closing will leave 32 Sam’s Club locations in Illinois: Romeoville, Naperville, Montgomery, Hodgkins, Joliet, Tinley Park, Northlake, Addison, Batavia, Cicero, Evergreen Park, Matteson, Streamwood, Des Plaines, Elgin, Evanston, Wheeling, Vernon Hills and Calumet City.
