The fourth of July is Tuesday and several communities are holding parades, picnics, festivals and evening fireworks to commemorate Independence Day. Please note that the extended festivals have an admission fee.
June 28 – July 2 • Lisle
Lisle Eyes to the Skies Festival (Nightly fireworks show). Lisle Community Park, 1825 Short Street. Three fun-filled days that will include the following: carnival, huge children’s area, craft fair, over 30 food booths, live music on two stages, Balloon Launches are at 5:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., balloon glows at 8 p.m., and nightly fireworks starting at 9:45 p.m. Each night of fireworks features a theme. July 2 will feature patriotic music.
July 1 • Joliet
Independence Celebration & Fireworks Show. 6–10:30 p.m. Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park and Theatre. Back by popular demand and still free. Live music, food ‘n brew and fireworks from 9:30-9:50 p.m. Featured bands are Hot Mess from 6-7:30 p.m. (featuring Joliet Mayor O’Dekirk on drums and vocals) and Junkyard Dawgs from 8-10:30 p.m. Bring blankets and chairs for lawn seating. Parking is free.
July 1 • Plainfield
Lakewood Falls Fireworks Show. Fireworks begin at dusk. 13909 S. Budler Road. The show is behind the Creekside Elementary School. Admission is Free.
July 3 • Romeoville
Romeoville Independence Day. 9:15 p.m. Village Park, 900 W. Romeo Rd. Musical entertainment will be performing on the amphitheater beginning at 7 p.m. The band, activities, and food will be at Deer Crossing Park, 1050 W. Romeo Rd.; fireworks will be at Village Park, 900 W. Romeo Rd. at 9:15 p.m.
July 3 • Plainfield
Patriotic Picnic & Fireworks. 6 to 9 p.m. Plainfield Central High School, 24120 Fort Beggs Dr. Fireworks at dusk. Fun for the entire family: bike parade, military organizations, face painting, touch-a-truck, dance performances, kids’ patriotic bike parade, inflatables and more. Ribfest Fireworks. 9:30 p.m. Knoch Park, 724 S. West St. Naperville. Part of the Annual Exchange Club of Naperville’s Ribfest which is from June 30-July 3 and provides 20 acres filled with live entertainment, food, carnival and family-friendly fun. General admission tickets start at $20 and includes admission to the various live stages including the Main Stage featuring national acts. The Wallflowers and Better Than Ezra are performing July 3. July 4 • Bolingbrook
The All-American Celebration. 3-10 p.m. The Bolingbrook Golf Club, 2001 Rodeo Drive. Huge selection of kids’ activities, food vendors and food trucks, outdoor bar, musical entertainment from 3-9:20 p.m. Jim Cornelison (tenor for the Chicago Blackhawks) sings the National Anthem before the fireworks. Shuttle bug pick up/drop off at Carlow Industrial Park and Plainfield East High School.
July 4 • Lisle
4th of July Parade & Ice Cream Social. 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. The Museums at Lisle Stations Park, 921 School Street. In commemoration of Independence Day, this year’s 4th of July Parade begins at Lisle Junior High at 11 a.m. and proceeds down Main Street from Jonquil to School, right on Spencer and then left on Burlington to Village Hall. Following the parade, the Lisle Heritage Society will host an ice cream social on the grounds of the Museums at Lisle Station Park, 921 School Street in Lisle just north of Village Hall. Discover Lisle’s past while savoring a frozen treat.
JULY 4 – Westmont
Independence Day Celebration. 4 to 10 p.m. at Ty Warner Park. The family fun begins at 4 p.m. at the old-fashioned Independence Day Celebration. A complete list of activities can be found in the summer program guide. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy the best 4th of July around.
JULY 4 – Downers Grove
Independence Day Parade and Fireworks. Steps off at Main and Grant streets in Downers Grove at 12:45 p.m. Parade heads south to Warren Avenue. For more information, visit events.downers.us/independence-day. Then in the evening bring family and friends to the fireworks display sponsored by the Village of Downers Grove, the Village of Woodridge, and the City of Darien. The show starts at approximately 9:30 p.m. at 75th Street and Lemont Road.
