Plainfield Central holds the top seed of the District 202 teams, as it is the No. 3 seed in the Romeoville Sectional.

“I thought we are right around where we should be,” Central coach Erik Vogt said. “As long as we were No. 2 or 3, that was where I thought we deserved to be. The unfortunate thing about our record is that five of our losses are to teams from Indiana and the five teams from Indiana and four of them are ranked in the top 50 in the country.”

The Wildcats will open play Tuesday, Oct. 25 against the winner of No. 14 Andrew and No. 19 Crete-Monee in its own regional. The Wildcats have defeated both the top two seeds, Lincoln-Way East (No. 2) and Minooka (No. 1), with the loss to Minooka coming after seeds were released.

“Seeding is very important, but unfortunately it is left up to the coaches to make the decisions and if we don’t face those coaches, they don’t know how good our conference is,” Vogt said. “We went three several times in our conference, but coaches don’t understand how competitive the SPC has become, but hopefully between us and Minooka, we can show them how competitive we are.”

Plainfield South is the No. 13 seed in the Romeoville Sectional and will compete in the Joliet West Regional facing off against No. 20 Thornton Fractional North at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 24.

Plainfield North is the No. 18 seed in the Geneva Sectional and is in the Naperville North Regional. The Tigers will open play in a play in game Monday, Oct. 24 against No. 15 Wheaton Warrenville South. A win would put North against No. 2 Wheaton North.

East, the No. 19 seed at Geneva will compete in the Metea Valley Regional and will open play against No. 12 Naperville Central Oct. 24. The winner of the play-in game would face No. 3 Wheaton St. Francis the following day.

“We have a tough road ahead but we are very optimistic as we know our record does not reflect our talent by any means,” said East coach Alex Rodriguez.
