The Plainfield Public Library announced that it would hold a National Voter Registration Day event Sept. 27.
National Voter Registration Day was created to encourage individuals to register prior to the registration deadlines for November elections. This year’s deadline is Oct. 11, with the next election set for Nov. 8.
Although the public is able to register to vote at the library at any open registration time throughout the year, library staff will be available Sept. 27 to assist and encourage others to register to vote.
If a person has recently changed their name, address or political party, or has turned 18, the library said they should re-register to vote.
